REGINA - Mosaic Stadium was opened up to the fans Saturday afternoon as the Saskatchewan Roughriders hosted Roughrider Fan Day.
The stadium was opened up for the free event, where fans could watch the final Roughriders practise before their game Sunday against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Afterwards, the fans were able to go down on the field for family activities including inflatables and face painting, and pictures with Gainer the Gopher.
Fans also lined the concourse in full force to get autographs from the Roughriders players and coaches. Rider players including quarterback Cody Fajardo signed jerseys, footballs, and other mementos for a long lineup of fans. There were eight different tables set up throughout the concourse featuring Riders players signing autographs.
This marks a return of the popular fan event that had been put on hold the last couple of years due to COVID-19.
On game day Sunday, Sept. 4, more fan activities are planned just outside the stadium in Confederation Park, with Party in the Park. That event will include tailgate-style games and plenty of food and drink, as well as a live DJ and performances from the 620 CKRM Rider Cheer Team and the 620 CKRM Pep Band. That will start at 1 p.m., and go on until the Labour Day Classic kicks off at 4 p.m.
