The Town of Rockglen has announced its initial plans for the Canada 150 celebrations this year.
Canada is marking 150 years of confederation this year. The Federal Government and Heritage Ministry are asking Canadians to participate by organizing local events in communities across the country.
Rockglen has confirmed some activities and has set some preliminary dates and times. Two celebration dates are set: Flag Day on February 12 and a special celebration on the weekend of August 12 and 13.
On Flag Day, there will be 75 Canadian flags will be distributed to households in the Rockglen area to be displayed on or before the August celebration
Rockglen will host their Canada 150 celebration on Saturday, August 12, 2017. The celebration takes place at Rockin Beach Park. Registration and a pancake breakfast start the day at 9 a.m. The Mud Bog event run in the afternoon from noon to 6 p.m. In the evening a Canada cake dessert provided by the Rockglen Co-op will be unveiled and shared at 7 p.m. Once it gets dark there will be a fireworks display over Fife Lake. A community cabaret with music provided by Buckshot with Tyler Lewis runs from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
There will be a number of events taking place in the Town of Rockglen on Sunday, August 13. A pancake breakfast will take place at the Town Hall starting at 9 a.m. It is organized by the Rockglen Business Association. An ecumenical church service follows in the hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon. A ribbon-cutting and dedication 小蓝视频 at the Heritage Orchard runs from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
