ROCANVILLE – The Memorial University Sea-Hawks (St. John’s, N.L.) welcome Amiyah Spencer to the women's volleyball program for the upcoming season.
The Rocanville, Sask. native will be joining the team as a middle blocker while pursuing a Bachelor of Science at Memorial.
A multi-sport athlete, Spencer has demonstrated her athleticism and competitive drive both on the court and in the pool. She helped lead Rocanville School to a high school provincial bronze medal in 2022 and a silver medal in 2023, showcasing her ability to perform at the highest level. She has also made waves in swimming, medaling at the Saskatchewan Swimming Provincials in both 2023 and 2024.
Spencer was drawn to Memorial not only for its strong volleyball program but also for its academic excellence and stunning surroundings.
"Memorial has everything that I'm looking for a great volleyball program, quality academic programs, and of course, an amazing campus with the best scenery!" she shared.
Known for her versatility, energy, and team-first mentality, Spencer is eager to make an impact on the court.
"I'm a very versatile player, and I bring a lot of energy to the court. No matter what, I'm always trying to help out my team!"
Beyond volleyball, Spencer is excited to immerse herself in Newfoundland's culture and experience the camaraderie within the Sea-Hawks community.
"The team seems like a family, and I love it! Newfoundland also seems like such an exciting place to be, and I can't wait to experience it for myself!"
With her high energy, positivity, and adaptability, Spencer is determined to contribute to the team's success and grow as both an athlete and a teammate.
Head coach Sydney Rohm is excited about Spencer's addition to the program.
"Amiyah is a dynamic athlete with a strong presence at the net. Her work ethic and enthusiasm will be a great asset to our team, and we're looking forward to seeing her development here at Memorial."
