Residents of Weyburn will be busy cleaning up their yards over the upcoming long-weekend in preparation of the City's Clean-up Campaign.
The residential judging for Weyburn's Clean-up Campaign will be judged on June 7. For the competition, the city will be divided-up into five areas and judged by volunteer area chairmen. On judging day, one area will be judged as the most improved area as compared to last year. The winning area will have eight residents chosen at random to receive a prize.
The Golden Garbage Can competition will be judged on June 21 in Weyburn and June 22 in Estevan. A celebrity judge has been elected to judge the Golden Garbage Can Competition. Environment Minister Nancy Heppner will help determine which community is the cleanest.
Chair of the Clean-up Committee and City Councillor Nancy Styles said that the two competitions are a way for the city to get a spring clean-up.
"It's a time to clean-up the leaves and garbage and smarten everything up," said Styles.
The committee is holding a poster contest for elementary students with the theme 小蓝视频 "Just Good Clean Fun." Winning posters will be displayed at City Hall and the rest will be displayed in various store-front windows.
This is the City's 54th year of competition and their 47th competition with Estevan. The two communities have not competed since 2003.
