Stoughton's Royal Canadian Legion Tecumseh Branch #133 laid15 wreaths at their cenotaph this year during their Remembrance Day Service.
The Govenor General's wreath was laid by Borden Terney, Silver Cross Mother by Dian Fowlow, Canadian Armed Forces by Pat Slater, Royal Canadian Legion by Ray Coderre, Federal Gov't. by Marilyn Miller, Provincil Gov't. by Pat Sheils, Municipal Gov't.by Heather Balon Barmann, First Nations by Ken Sheilds,Alzheimer's Society by Carol Balon, Lion's Club by Dale Fowlow, Rebekah's by Sharon Slimmon. Individual wreaths were alsolaid :Grace Goudyfor her husband Hugh, Robert Fenn lfor Ray Gilby, Eileen Cassidyfor Doreen Gilby and Erna Creighton for Don Creighton.
The Seargent At Arms was Ken Sheilds and in the color party were Dan Coderre, Kim Coderre, Leonard Mowles and cadet Kyle Wilton.
Dustin Hall played the Reveille. Leading the worship service was: Pastor Virgil Anderson ( the legion padre ), Pastor David Kibben, Pastor Robert Fenn, Rev. Deborah Laforet and Blaine Morrison provided the music.
Scripture readings were from: Joshua 4:1-7 and Matthew: 1-11.Hymns sung were: "Come Let us Sing of a Wonderful Love","Take My Life and Let ItBe", "Oh God our Helpin Ages Past",and "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory".
Rev. Laforet gave the sermon. She spoke on the significance of the Remembrance Day services and it's traditions, the importance of remembering those who fought and continue to fight and the need to be reminded to always work toward peace.
There was a lunch served after the service and a roast beef supper in the evening. Legion member Peter Piper was the guest speaker after the supper to which the crowd responded with a standing ovation.
