REGINA — Regina Police have arrested and charged one Regina man after investigation into several reported incidents of a stranger making sexual advances towards children.
The individual, identified as 28-year-old Nhigel Ceredon of Regina, has been linked to three incidents since May that were reported to the Regina Police Service.
On May 30, police received a report of a suspicious man at Westhill Park alleged to have approached two children and grabbed a five-year-old boy by the shirt to lead him away. Another child intervened, and the suspect left the area.
On July 10, police responded to a call at a park on Transcona Place, as a man was said to be making sexually suggestive statements to children in the park. Upon arrival, police identified the man matching the description provided and continued investigation.
On Aug. 7, police received another report from a woman that a man on a bicycle had approached her two children and allegedly touched one in a sexual manner and attempted to touch the other. When the parents confronted the man, he allegedly took off his belt as if to use it as a weapon.
At that time, police were unable to locate the suspect, but later found and arrested him after responding to a complaint of a man in Transcona Park who was trying to convince children to sit with him on a bench.
Ceredon has been identified as the suspect in all of these incidents.
After his arrest on Aug. 8, Ceredon was also charged with sexual assault, from an alleged incident that occured in the RPS detention area.
On Aug. 28, while 小蓝视频 transported on remand, Ceredon is alleged to have “rubbed up against an RPS Special Constable, in a sexual manner, before 小蓝视频 pulled away,” said an RPS statement.
In connection with all four incidents, Ceredon has been charged with assault with a weapon (belt), invitation to sexual touching, assault and three counts of sexual assault.
He made his first court appearance on five charges on Aug. 9, and appeared in provincial court by video on the remaining assault charge on Friday.
