The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced Wednesday the temporary reduction of service hours at certain ports of entry (POE) along the Canada-U.S. border.

These COVID-19 related measures are temporary. They will remain in effect until further notice.

The Port of Estevan is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. From early November to early March, it is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.

Once the new hours began on April 16, the Port of Estevan is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Three other area border crossings will also be affected. The Ports of Carievale, Northgate and Oungre were open similar hours to Estevan; they鈥檒l now be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The North Portal border crossing is not affected by this decision. It will be the only border crossing in Saskatchewan open 24/7. The Port of Regway Saskatchewan, which has traditionally been open around the clock, has seen its hours reduced.聽

The Government of Canada continues to introduce border measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 in Canada. All non-essential travel into Canada continues to be prohibited.

The CBSA will proceed with the temporary reduction of service hours at a total of 27 locations.

Economic supply chains and trade will remain open and the CBSA says it will work to ensure that access to goods and services is not interrupted. As such, these changes should not affect commercial traffic.
