Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of November 22 to November 29:
*On November 27, police responded to a call of an assault in the 800 block of Park Avenue. A young male walking on Park Avenue was approached by a vehicle and a male got out of the vehicle, approached the victim and struck him several times, knocking him to the ground. The victim received minor injuries from the assault and the matter is under investigation.
*Police attended a bar in Weyburn and arrested a 34-year-old Weyburn resident. He was charged with one count of Breach of Probation and was remanded into custody.
*On November 26, a 35-year-old Weyburn resident was charged with two counts of fraud for an incident that occurred at a financial institution in Weyburn.
*Police responded to a collision in the 400 block of Second Street NW where a northbound vehicle lost control and hit a tree. No one was injured and the collision was ruled an accident due to the icy road conditions.
*On November 25, police responded to a call of willful damage at a hotel in Weyburn where an ATM machine was vandalized. No cash was stolen but several thousand dollars worth of damage was done. The matter is under investigation.
*On November 24, police responded to a call of theft from a motor vehicle in the 100 block of Ash Drive, in which several items and some cash was taken. The matter is under investigation. The Weyburn Police Service would like to remind the public to ensure that their vehicles are locked at all times and that items of value are not left sitting in the view of passersby.
*The Weyburn Police Service is warning residents that phone scams continue to be a concern and would like to remind the public to be very cautious of suspicious phone calls and to not provide personal information or banking information to unknown callers. *Over the weekend, police issued two 24-hour driving suspensions and one 30-day driving suspension. The Weyburn Police Service received 86 calls for service during this reporting period.
