The national judges of the Communities in Bloom (CiB) competition visited Weyburn on July 29, touring several parks, yards and City facilities.
"Overall, I was impressed with the whole city," said CiB judge Margaret Bateman Elison. "The big park and the amount of green space between public and private sectors is great."
Both judges were extremely impressed with their tour of Tatagwa Park, Heritage Village and the Soo Line Historical Museum.
"One thing that really impressed me was the culture and diversity, and the way the community is trying to preserve it," said judge Gerry Teahen.
Teahen said he was also impressed with the local SARCAN Depot and the opportunities that are given to those with mental challenges.
"I hope that other communities follow suit," said Teahen.
Weyburn will be competing against six other communities across Canada with a similar population size. The winning community and full evaluation will be announced at the CiB national awards from October 27 to 30 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
