MOOSOMIN — Winter Wonderland at Moosomin Regional Park has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 15.

The event was originally planned for February, but due to stormy weather on the weekend it was planned for, the Moosomin Regional Park board decided to cancel the event and reschedule it for March.

Everything originally planned for the event is still a go.

There will be dog sled rides from 10 am to 4 pm with Eagle Ridge Dog Sleds for $20 a ride (5 and under free).

Horse-drawn sleigh rides will take place from 1-4 pm for $10 a ride (5 and under free).

There will be a fishing derby from 11 am to 2 pm with registration starting at 10 am. The cost for the fishing derby is $20 for one hole and $30 for two holes.

Hot dogs and hot chocolate will also be served that day for $5.

The park board is asking people to bring cash for all events, as the park doesn’t have tap.

Everything is located at the marina area in the park this year, to accommodate parking, as previously the event drew large crowds to the park.

“A lot of people think it’s a place to go in the summer, and it’s nice to showcase what it can offer in the wintertime,” said Moosomin & District Regional Park committee member Karen Hebert.

“The last one we had was around 300 people, so we’re hoping for a few more.”

Money raised from the event goes back into the park to cover expenses, but it also serves as a showcase to people from outside the region as to what the Moosomin & District Regional Park has to offer.

“There are lots of people that come to this in the wintertime that I’ve never seen at the park in the summertime,” Hebert said.
