For the fourth year in a row, Manor Rodeo Grounds will be what classic and custom car enthusiasts call home. Moose Mountain Cruisin' is scheduled to take place over a four-day period from May 20 to 23.
A wide range of cars will be seen throughout the weekend ranging from relatively modern cars to very, very old cars. This includes everything from stock cars in original factory condition to customized creations. Tom Woodhouse says that "the cars vary and are modified to the persons' particular tastes. Differences can range from a paint job to a different motor or a different interior. There is something for everyone to see. The event's aim is to hold a family event and get people enthusiastic about the hobby."
The weekend is packed with events geared towards car enthusiasts that target all age groups. Friday evening will include a welcome barbeque where attendees can register for the weekend and have the opportunity to sit around a camp fire and visit.
Saturday will include a continental breakfast and an opportunity to speak with car owners about their cars. The afternoon will include a hearty chili lunch and free time in the afternoon to visit. This is followed by supper and a movie at the Prairie Dog Drive Theatre.
Sunday will start off with a continental breakfast followed by the annual Show and Shine that will take place from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Banners and flags will mark the location of the event at the junction of #9 and #13 highways in the A&W parking lot. Monday will see the car enthusiasts off with a going-away breakfast.
There are two options for those interested in taking part in the event. If the Show and Shine is your primary interest, feel free to stop by the event free of charge. For those wanting a little more from the weekend, a $37 registration fee covers entry for one car and driver. Additional adults in the car can register for $33, students for $22, and kids that are members of the same family can register for a reduced cost. The registration fee covers all of the events throughout the weekend, camping at Manor Rodeo Grounds and the food provided at the Rodeo Grounds.
Anyone interested in registering for the full weekend can contact Murray Davis at 448-2135 or Tom Woodhouse at 634-8178. The registration deadline is May 5 and those interested are invited to visit the Moose Mountain Cruisin' website at www.moosemountaincruisin.ca.
