Midale's annual Remembrance Day service held in the 39ers club room was very well attended. Comrade John New from the Royal Canadian Legion No. 60, Estevan, had organized the event with Capt. Ken Turner leading the prayers. Among the many laying wreaths was RCMP Const. Thomas Buttle in his scarlet uniform. The Midale Community choir, conducted by Nina Martinson, gave a rendition of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" accompanied by Sheila Peterson who was the pianist for all of the 小蓝视频. After a few words about the relevance of the Legion to returning Afghanistan veterans, the proposed renewal of Manley park was mentioned.

There were soup and sandwiches served after by the 39ers. Unfortunately the muddy roads and grounds made a 小蓝视频 at the cenotaph impossible. The residents of Midale, Halbrite and Macoun altogether donated close to $1,500 through the sales of poppies.

Manley Park was dedicated to Lt. Albert Manley but has fallen into disrepair and has to have playground equipment upgraded. Grants from the provincial government will match all money that is raised by the community. From the $1,500 raised for the poppy fund, $500 pledged by the Legion and an anonymous gift of $500, which will be forthcoming, this is an excellent start.

Shayna Scott had her "big city friend" from Vancouver, B.C., to come down and enjoy the small town life in and around Midale. Her friend Nicole Davies came down to visit Shayna for a couple of days and had a good visit.

Word was received of the passing of Midale resident Les Meyers. Les is survived by his wife Helen, and his two sons Lavern and Rick and family.

Garry and Iona Scharnatta travelled to British Columbia to visit their new granddaughter Brooklyn Gotro. Brooklyn was born on Oct. 7 to Mark and Terralyn Gotro. This is their second little girl.

Well time for this week's useless information. I have two this week. The first has to do with hunting since we are in the middle of hunting season. The world record Boone and Crockett-scored buck measured 213 and was actually shot in Saskatchewan. Hope I get one that big this year. The second useless information comes to a shock to me. Did you know that I have actually written the Midale news now for almost five years now? I love 小蓝视频 part of such a great community and I hope you enjoy reading the Midale news as much as I enjoy writing it. Well that is all for me, so you stay classy Midale.
