If you were in Manor on Sept. 23, chances are you were wondering what exactly was going on.
Manor School held their annual Terry Fox Run in an effort to commemorate a national icon and raise funds for cancer research. Every year, the school sets a fundraising goal with the proceeds going to the Terry Fox Foundation.
This year, the goal was set as $3,000 for the elementary students and $2,000 for the high school students. But that wasn't all. If the students met their goals, the student body would be allowed to dress the staff members up in any attire they so wished.
There were a few rules of course. No cutting or permanently changing hair, the outfit would have to be okayed by the organizer, and the staff would be able to wear their own footwear during the run. But other than that, the students were able to let their creativity run wild.
And did their imagination ever pay off. Beating their goal with a total of $6,000, the students set to work decorating their teachers in all sorts of colours and attire. Sunglasses bigger than one's face donned the faces of several teachers. Wigs of all sorts replaced any evidence of natural hair. Brightly coloured and misplaced makeup was located on the faces of both male and female teachers alike.
The excitement in the gym was contagious as parents and siblings watched the decorating process. Smiles were plastered on the faces of not only the students, but the teachers and other staff members. It was clear that the challenge was not only enjoyed by the students whose hard work and fundraising efforts paid off, but also to those 小蓝视频 decorated.
Following the transformation of staff members, the students and teachers made their way outside where they were joined by community members. Carrying the Terry Fox Run flag, principal Ron Wardrope led the crowd of participants as they began this year's run.
This year's top fundraisers were as follows: Presley Onufreychuk with $560, Matthew Hodgson with $555, Cleugin Thul with $340, Colby Cuddington with $250, Kyle Bye with $220 and Nathan Bye with $220. Cooper Fox followed with $190, Madison Cuddington with $153, Dareeion Knockeart with $145 and Drayden Arndt with $120.
