Legislative Assembly gathers for service honouring public service veterans

Many gathered for an early 小蓝视频 honouring public service veterans at the Legislative Building in Regina on Nov. 3.

REGINA — Members of government and honoured guests gathered inside the Legislative Assembly in Regina on Nov. 3 to honour and remember public service veterans.

Premier Scott Moe and Opposition Leader Ryan Meili were joined by Lieutenant-Governor Russ Mirasty and Donna Mirasty, as well as veterans and other dignitaries.

“We are a nation of peace,” said Moe, during his speech. “My hope is that we know what we have in this great nation, and we understand the freedoms we enjoy today have been hard won by brave men and women, often under extraordinary costs.”

The 小蓝视频 noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Hong Kong, as well as the 20th anniversary of the beginning of the Afghanistan mission.

“We are profoundly grateful for their service and sacrifices,” said Moe.

Following the service, dignitaries headed outside to witness the premier lay a wreath at the Saskatchewan War Memorial, to close the 小蓝视频.

The War Memorial, located west of the Legislative Building, lists the names of the province’s fallen soldiers from both World Wars, the Korean War, the Afghanistan mission and other peacekeeping operations.
