Komarnicki welcomes Action Plan extension in Souris-Moose Mountain

Ed Komarnicki, Member of Parliament for Souris-Moose Mountain, commented on the announcement for the extension of the deadline for completion of the Economic Action Plan Infrastructure projects on December 2 in Ottawa.

Ed Komarnicki, Member of Parliament for Souris-Moose Mountain, commented on the announcement for the extension of the deadline for completion of the Economic Action Plan Infrastructure projects on December 2 in Ottawa.

"I was very pleased to hear the Prime Minister formally announce the extension of the deadline for completion of the Economic Action Plan Infrastructure projects," said Komarnicki.

"The Prime Minister and the Transport Minister continued to say in the House of Commons that we would be fair, reasonable and flexible with respect to those projects that could not be completed by March 31, 2011, but as much comfort as that was, it was great to have a fixed extension date to October 31, 2011," said Komarnicki.

"This allows for one full construction season. That means a lot to communities that started projects late or for a variety of reasons had difficulty making the March 31, 2011, deadline." Komarnicki said that this announcement was good news for the Saskatchewan Energy Training Institute in Estevan and the 小蓝视频 East Regional College, as the extension will give them a reasonable opportunity to complete and collect on the $7 million allocated by the government under the Knowledge Infrastructure Project.

"I am both delighted and relieved that they will have a chance to realize the full amount of allotted funding," said Komarnicki.

The extension applies to all projects funded under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund Committees Component Top-Up, the Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program and the Knowledge Infrastructure Program.

In order to qualify for this extension, work must have begun on the project and eligible costs incurred before March 31, 2011.

"Even though this is a one-time extension, that is all we should need here in Souris-Moose Mountain," concluded Komarnicki.
