Here's your chance to go doggone crazy for animal videos. But there's no need to search the internet for funny, cute or heartwarming clips; the best ones will be in Wawota's A+ Rescue Talent and Pet Show, to held June 29 at 3 pm.
Whether you're interested in animal rescue or just enjoy watching cute pets run around, this will be a show for everyone.
The show is a fundraiser organized by Angie Werner-Paterson, who runs A+ Animal Rescue out of Wawota.
She says she just started last spring, becoming a not-for-profit organization, and is working on their charity status.
鈥淭he pet talent show is a way to raise funds for A+ Animal Rescue,鈥 says Werner-Paterson. 鈥淲henever we do a fundraiser we talk a lot about the importance of spaying and neutering your pets.鈥
鈥淩ight now we have 23 kittens in care,鈥 explains Werner-Paterson. 鈥淲e've lost quite a few kittens this year due to sickness from overpopulation. We've dealt with a lot of kitten fleas which is not normal.鈥
There are a few reasons why Werner-Paterson decided to start up this organization.
鈥淚 got a kitten in 2018 and he got ran over because he escaped outside,鈥 explains Werner. 鈥淚 had seen so many run over on the highway but no one ever claimed them. I started fostering for another company out of Virden.鈥
Werner goes to explain:
鈥淲e didn't have any help for the strays in town and surrounding area.鈥
So she decided to start a rescue herself.
It's been a lot of work on her part but she does have dedicated volunteers which is very helpful.
鈥淚'm still trying to find more foster homes,鈥 says Werner-Paterson. 鈥淚 get really overwhelmed with the intake of cats and kittens until I find foster homes for them.鈥
Donations as little as $5 can go a long ways in helping with the vet supplies, vet checks, spay and neuters, and so on.
"Every dollar helps," says Werner-Paterson.
If you're looking to spend a little time with some of these furry friends to help socialize them, feel free to volunteer your time, as it will be gratefully appreciated. Please call Angie at 306-575-3492.
You are welcome to register all species in the Pet Show whether it鈥檚 your cat, dog, bird, lizard, rabbit or horse.

This is your time to showcase your pet's talents or maybe something funny that it does, or maybe just because it's cute or adorable.
It's going to be a virtual show and there will be judges so send in your video clip of your pet. Don't procrastinate, get your 30-second pet video in soon along with your $15 registration fee to [email protected]. Who knows you may become the winner of a wonderful prize donated by Whitewood Outdoor & Pet Supply.
鈥淲e'll start the show with a short video and showcase some of the cats that are up for adoption,鈥 explains Werner-Paterson.
"I just really want to get the message out there - spay and neuter, spay and neuter."聽
