Forget has become synonymous with music.
The small village has become known in the region for providing musicians with a cozy venue to share their art, and this weekend - Feb. 4 - 5 - they will be singing the blues.
Blues artists will descend upon the small community and convene in the Happy Nun Cafe for the third annual Deep Winter Blues Revival. With the likes of Juno award winning Ken Hamm and Big Dave McLean hitting the stage, the weekend is not one to be missed.
Unfortunately for music lovers alike, the festival is sold out. So, unless you are one of the lucky few who bought your tickets early, you'll have to wait until next year.
However, don't despair. There are three Saturday afternoon workshops hosted by these blues artists that are still accepting people. The workshops include "Sing the Blues with Suze" put on by Suzie Vinnick, "Intro to Blues Harp" with Big Dave McLean, and "Playing Fingerstyle Blues" with Forget's own, Ken Hamm.
Those interested in the workshops can contact the Happy Nun Cafe at 457-2560. The cost for Hamm's workshop is $20, and the cost for Vinnick and Big Dave McLean's workshops are $30 each. The "Intro to Blues Harp" workshop includes a harmonica.
Teenage Blues Phenoms Clayton Linthicum and Kacy Anderson are slated to perform both nights of the event, as is Ken Hamm. Juno-nominated Vinnick will round off Friday night, and Big Dave McLean will round out Saturday night.
