Welcome to another wonderful school year at Gordon F. Kells! Things are in full swing with classes underway and the volleyball, cross country, and golf seasons have already begun. The staff and students are excited for the new school year!
SmartBoards have been installed in our school and all of our teachers have been using them. They will be improving their skills on SmartBoards during the Teachers' Convention in November.
The next school community council meeting will be held October 20. One of the main topics for review and discussion will be the changes to assessment in 小蓝视频east Cornerstone School Division.
There will be no school on September 27 as the teachers will be working on professional development.
The GFK Student Council has begun their planning for the year. Meetings will be every Tuesday in Miss Down's room. September 20-24 will be the first spirit week with a community BBQ on Wednesday, September 22 at lunch. Be sure to come out and visit with staff and students! Also, watch for magazine campaign coming up in October. We appreciate the support we received last year and hope to continue the success this year.
Along with the school, the Student Council is fundraising in order to purchase two virtual information signs. We are looking for sponsorship with the potential for advertising on these high tech signs. Anyone interested should contact Mr. Howe at the school.
Congrats to all those people involved in this past weekend's Mega Volleyball Tournament in Carlyle and Arcola. Special congratulations to the Estevan Elecs for their 1st Mega Volley Championship as they defeated the Rocanville Brash in an exciting final in Carlyle.
Reminder to all parents and students, there is to be no tobacco products on any school property. The Government of Saskatchewan recently implemented a new law that bans tobacco products of any kind to be used on school property at any time. Thank you for your support in this matter.
