Report cards went out on Wednesday, March 23. It was great to see so many parents out for Parent/Teacher interviews on Wednesday and Thursday. Please remember to contact your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns about your child's progress.
On March 11, 2011, the students of GFK were transfixed by a presentation from Mr. Tom Melin. Tom shared his story of substance abuse through a video and question and answer period. Tom was involved in a drinking and driving accident in 1996 which left him a T-7 paraplegic. The presentation started with a 35 minute video detailing his life before and after the accident. After the video, Tom entered the gym; the students did not know until this time that he was in the school. He introduced himself and told more about his experiences with alcohol and other substances. Tom was very candid in his answers and made it very clear to the students that he must live with the choices he made. This was a very powerful presentation and we would like to thank Tom and his wife Kim for coming to our school to share this story.
