On April 5, junior and senior curlers from G.F.K. high school attended the Ford World Men's Curling Championship. Thirteen students, along with coaches and supervisors, made their way to Regina to take in the world-class curling.
The organizing committee for the Curling Championship provided free tickets to schools throughout Saskatchewan, handing out more than 1000 free tickets. The effort, in an attempt to showcase and promote the game of curling, provided a memorable experience for many young curlers.
Donna Beaver, G.F.K. teacher and team coach for the young curlers, described a number of highlights from the day. For her, "just going to those events is always amazing. The kids had a great time and the day was enjoyed by all. For some of the kids, the highlight was running into Amber Holland, getting her autograph, chatting with her, and getting their picture taken with her. For other kids, it was just 小蓝视频 there and seeing that calibre of curling. For other kids, it was seeing certain teams that they loved."
"Seeing Team Canada was definitely a highlight. They didn't play in the morning, so we were really glad that we stayed for the afternoon draw. And because it was Saskatchewan day, the kids saw Team Canada dressed up in their green Team Canada jackets. It was a lot of fun."
