Free fishing July 10

July 9-10 is Saskatchewan's family fishing weekend, which means people can go out all over the province and fish without a licence. The Moose Mountain Wildlife Federation is going to help people get out to fish on July 10. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

July 9-10 is Saskatchewan's family fishing weekend, which means people can go out all over the province and fish without a licence. The Moose Mountain Wildlife Federation is going to help people get out to fish on July 10. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the federation will take people fishing. The meeting point is at the Moose Creek Regional Park boat launch. Each trip will be about one to two hours, taking four or five people each time.

The free fishing day is a really good deal for all people who want to fish, and especially useful for the people who have never gone fishing before. Each boat will have a member from the federation to help the person who came out to fish. The member will take the person out (hopefully to a spot with fish!) and give fishing tips to those new fishers, or whoever wants them.

Once the fishing trip is over, people can come back with the fish they catch and either take the fish home as is, or have the federation cook the fish onsite. It is a great opportunity to learn how to properly fillet a fish.

President of the Moose Mountain Wildlife Federation, Jim Brown, encourages people to come out as it is a really good way to learn how to fish, and an excellent way to get out into the sun and enjoy the outdoors. For more information he can be contacted at 577-8049. Brown says there are also members for each locale that are listed in an ad in the newspaper who can be contacted for information.

The fishing is free, but people will have to pay to get into the park - which is only $5. There really is no better way to get introduced to fishing. It's easy to get out there, it's fun, it's outside and you might just catch your dinner!
