A recent shakeup has the City of Estevan on the hunt for a new leisure services manager.
The City announced through a press release last Wednesday that Helen Fornwald, the long-serving leisure services manager, has resigned from the position and will be taking over the vacant safety co-ordinator position.
According to the release, Fornwald has implemented the City's safety program in the leisure services division and they were interested in using her experience for the rest of their operations and asked her to consider accepting the safety position.
City manager Jim Puffalt said they were fortunate that Fornwald was looking for a different challenge and agreed to stay with them.
"We are very happy we were able to keep her working for the City," said Puffalt. "We were glad that we had a fit that would work.
"Helen is a 20-year employee (with the City) and somebody that has a real good talent at safety and implemented the program really well in leisure services."
Fornwald will continue as leisure services manager until Nov. 1 and will then move into the new position. It was also noted that she has agreed to sit on the Spectra Place Committee that is working to have the new facility open in early 2011.
A hunt for her replacement is already underway. Puffalt said they have begun advertising for a new manager and will be looking to hire someone with experience.
"We don't want to hire someone who is new off the street," he said. "We are looking for somebody that has experience looking after the things that Estevan has and will have."
