A front-end loader works at removing flax bales away from the row of round bales on fire, during a massive blaze of stored bales across the road from NorAmera BioEnergy ethanol plant on Nov. 2. There were about 18,000 bales stacked in long rows for use by the ethanol plant, and caught on fire around 8:40 p.m. that evening. The cause of the fire is not known, and no one was injured in the blaze, which could be seen for a long distance around Weyburn. Fire crews from Weyburn and Yellow Grass were joined by many volunteers hauling water or driving front-end loaders to come and move bales to isolate the blaze and let the fire burn itself out.
