EPS continues to receive calls about scams

Police say nobody fell for the scam attempts.

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service has received multiple calls about scams this week.

The police reports for Tuesday and Wednesday show members were notified about scams both days. In one instance, the caller received a notification that they were entitled to money from a family member. The complainant determined the prize was not legitimate and didn’t provide the scammer any information.

In another instance, the complainant received an invoice for a service that they didn’t receive and inquired into it with the sender. The sender was quite aggressive with the complainant on the phone. The complainant didn’t fall for the scam attempt. 

In other recent police news, officers arrested and charged a 48-year-old man from Estevan on Monday for uttering threats. The incident was reported over the weekend and members were able to conclude the investigation. The Estevan man was released and will speak to his charges in May.

Police received a report of counterfeit money 小蓝视频 used to pay for a meal. The matter remains under investigation.

Officers were called to the downtown core for a male sleeping in a vehicle. The caller made attempts to awaken the male but was unsuccessful. Members attended and the male was found to be okay with no signs of impairment.

Police attended to a disturbance in the Pleasantdale area on Tuesday. Police spoke to the individuals and mediated a temporary resolution for the evening. One of the parties consented to leaving.

Police were dispatched to a residence in central Estevan for a domestic dispute. Officers spoke with all parties involved and the matter was resolved.

Members received a report of a disturbance in the Trojan subdivision on Wednesday. Police attended, de-escalated the situation and mediated a resolution for the evening.

Officers received a report of a theft of gas from a service station. The person responsible was located and indicated they thought they paid with their credit card. The motorist was to return to pay for the gas.
