Year after year, Cornerstone Theatre productions sell out. Weeks in advance tickets become few and those in attendance are treated to a spectacular performance. This year is expected to be no different.
Cornerstone Theatre is preparing for this year's performance which will be presented to audiences during the weekend of Dickens from Dec. 2 to 4. This year, the Cornerstone production titled 'A Christmas Carol Re-mixed' will be performed.
"This year is a new production where we have re-mixed a bunch of ideas from previous plays," said Michelle Amy, one of the members of the theatre group. "So, anyone who has come previously will be amused by how we have brought together the storylines."
As for how the plays are developed? It is the handiwork of the theatre group itself. "We ran out of Christmas Carol scripts years ago," said Amy. "We usually collaborate so we will start with a premise and then we sort of workshop the script. This year, the script has been 'workshopped' by several groups. Then as we evolve the play and members of our group develop their characters, the play takes on a bit of a life of its own."
"We have incorporated a new premise with a great cast of teenagers this year. They have been incorporated in a very humorous way, so the crowd should really enjoy the play."
Friday and Saturday night performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday's matinee performance starting at 2 p.m. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to get their tickets early to ensure their spot as a spectator. Tickets are available at Cornerstone Shoes for the price of $15 for adults and $10 for others.
