Come celebrate Canada's Birthday

As Canada Day fast approaches, most of us are looking forward to the break with family and friends, so here is a quick look at what's happening in our area. Please remember that many events are "weather permitting.

As Canada Day fast approaches, most of us are looking forward to the break with family and friends, so here is a quick look at what's happening in our area. Please remember that many events are "weather permitting."

Arcola - Celebrations will take place at the play park on July 1. There's birthday cake and juice at 8 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. or when it's dark enough.

Cannington Manor - Nothing special is planned for Canada Day, but there will be wagon rides and Canada-themed activities on Sunday, July 3. Contact 739-5251 for more information.

Carlyle - There are no official events or activities put on by the town, and nothing planned at the museum or swimming pool.

Kenosee Village - Kenosee Superslides will be offering a variety of activities all day. These will include face painting and games for both adults and children. At night the Village will be putting on its spectacular fireworks display when darkness falls.

Lampman - Nothing planned.

Manor - The following activities will take place at the museum. Pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. A team of horses will give hay rides from 9-11 a.m. and face painting also from 9-11 a.m. In the afternoon the musical group "Just Us" will be playing at 2 p.m. at the Over 60 Hall, and a 4 p.m. a water fight will take place on Main Street, courtesy of the fire truck. In the evening the street will also play host to a BBQ supper.

Maryfield - Nothing planned.

Moose Mountain Provincial Park - Celebrations will take place at the main beach from 1-4 p.m. There will be musical entertainment, cake and a variety of fun activities. Special events will also continue on July 2 with a banana relay from 1-4 p.m. at the main beach, and Canoe-see at Little Kenosee at 7:30 p.m. On July 3 the "Building Blazes Campfire" takes place at 7 p.m. at the presentation area, site #7 in Fish Creek Campground. Call 577-2615 for more details on any of these events.

Stoughton - On July 1 there's a come and go tea at the museum from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then from 4:30 p.m. the town hosts their event with BBQ, cake and ice cream. Activities for children are planned along with entertainment from local artists. In the evening the Stoughton Daze Golf Tournament takes place with registration at 5:30 p.m. Stoughton Daze also continues on July 2-3 with numerous special events including a parade, a clown and kids activities.

Wawota - July 1 sees the Wawota Pats enjoying their Canada Day tournament. Games are planned for 10 a.m. 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. with the final at 5 p.m.

Whitebear Resort - There will be a parade in the morning and a free BBQ from 2 - 5 p.m. with fireworks after dark.
