Carlyle Town Council held their first meeting of the month on Aug. 4.

A motion was passed to hire Living Tree Environmental to complete a full Dutch elm disease survey in the community. This took place on Aug. 10. Council wants to be as proactive as possible to avoid any outbreaks of Dutch elm disease in the community.

The federal government announced in its 2021 budget that a top-up payment will be made to municipalities this year. This funding will double Canada’s commitment for the 2020-21 fiscal year. The Town of Carlyle’s per capita allocation from this program is $90,555.40, and is scheduled to flow to communities in August.

The town continues to move forward with the recreation and culture changes to the delivery system. The recruitment process is underway for a recreation, culture and parks director as well as three facility operator positions.

The second meeting for the month has been postponed. The next regular meeting of council is scheduled for Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
