Law enforcement personnel in southeast Saskatchewan are continuing the battle against illegal drugs.
The latest bust happened Friday when Carlyle RCMP discovered a large cache of drugs during a traffic stop.
According to an RCMP press release, members of the Carlyle detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway 13 near Forget at approximately 11 a.m.
The five occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.The officers also seized two ounces of cocaine, 600 ecstacy pills, seven ounces of magic mushrooms, 1.7 pounds of cannabis, marijuana seeds and drug related property.The street value of the drugs is estimated at $20,000.
Trevor Desjarlais, 28; James Teunissen, 27 and John Campbell, 20, of Vancouver were remanded into custody and made their first appearance in Estevan provincial court Monday.
Virgil Sammy, 49, and Susan Littlechief, 58, of Regina were released on conditions before the justice of the peace and are to attend Carlyle provincial court Nov. 24.
All told, the five accused face a total of 40 drug charges.The Regina Integrated Drug Unit is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
