Lampman is excited to announce 2010-2011 is the first year of the Black Gold Light Horse 4-H Club! There was a lot of interest in a youth based riding group when the club started up in the fall as there was no Light Horse club in this 4-H district. There are 9 members ranging from 6 to 21year of age. The 3 leaders hold rides and meetings twice a month at the Fichter Arena just south of Lampman. Most of the members are new to riding and horses were borrowed from the leaders or the Fichter family. The kids are learning the basics of showmanship, walking, trotting, and general horse care with an emphasis on safety. The club hosted a steak night fundraiser in November at Houston Pizza in Estevan. The enthusiasm generated from the local community was greatly appreciated! Congratulations to Jeff Roy for winning the door prize! The kids are preparing for their public speaking component of the 4-H program. The spring rides will be focusing on their Achievement Day requirements. Richard and Janette Fichter and their family have been a great inspiration to the creation of this club. All the work that Todd, Shelley, Jeff, Tamara and April have contributed toward the kids and the horses is greatly appreciated by the club!
