Assiniboia鈥檚 Volunteer Registration Night was a success

Assiniboia鈥檚 Volunteer Registration Night at the Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre had a massive and energetic representation from the town鈥檚 volunteer groups.

Assiniboia鈥檚 Volunteer Registration Night at the Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre had a massive and energetic representation from the town鈥檚 volunteer groups. The fourth annual evening when Assiniboians could receive material and information on volunteer organizations in town happened from 4:30-7 p.m. on September 5. The volunteer organizers assembled behind tables loaded with information on Thursday. The groups themselves were diverse, including the Assiniboia 55 Club, the Assiniboia & District Public Library and Inner Strength Fitness.

鈥淚t鈥檚 good. I like registration night,鈥 Giselle Wilson from Giselle鈥檚 Showtyme Dance said.

鈥淚 hope a lot of people will come here and join us,鈥 Margarete K枚tterle from the Assiniboia & District Museum stated, adding, 鈥淲e need more volunteers.鈥

Local volunteer groups in Assiniboia are adding entertaining facilities to the community, such as the Assiniboia & District Public Library鈥檚 Family Fun Tub. The Assiniboia In Motion Team created nine tubs of family entertainment sets presented as rentable packages at the library. For book and magazine lending, the library in Assiniboia鈥檚 Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre is open six days a week at various hours.

The Assiniboia & District Historical Society and Museum relies on volunteers for growth and strength. On Thursday night, the museum鈥檚 staff and volunteers were seeking for more joiners. This volunteer-run museum in Assiniboia is a gem in south central Saskatchewan with vintage cars from 1916-64, along with pictorial histories, archives and agricultural machinery. Plus, in the past there鈥檚 been vintage exhibits on historic baseball events in southern Saskatchewan, antique toys, a display of strange and outdated pharmaceuticals, a blacksmith鈥檚 shop, antique cameras and the list continues. The museum鈥檚 the right place to come and understand how this part of Saskatchewan changed from the days of pioneer settlements to the digital age.

There were many other volunteer groups on Registration Night in the Prince of Wales, such as the Junior B Rebels with Carol Marit sitting at the team鈥檚 table. Marit was also representing other volunteer committees for the evening including Popcorn Productions and the Assiniboia Choir.聽 聽 聽 聽聽
