The 4-H district public speaking competition took place in Assiniboia on March 10. Participating were members who received the first or second place from the Assiniboia, Rockglen and Mossbank 4-H clubs. There were four levels competing including cloverbud, junior, intermediate and senior. The event began with members reciting their pledge of 4-H. Each participant was judged on their performance as they gave their speech in front of parents, friends and 4-H members. The winners were announced at the end of the evening with all participants receiving a certificate of achievement.
All those who placed first, second and third in this competition now move on to the 4-H regional competition in Hodgeville on Saturday, April 1. The Assiniboia 4-H club has recently become active again. They plan to hold fundraisers and an achievement day in June. This year marks the 100th anniversary for Saskatchewan 4-H, one of Canada鈥檚 largest youth organizations. A gala will be held on Friday, March 25 in Saskatoon.
