With Christmas right around the corner, Arcola students held a Christmas concert for the public on Wednesday, Dec. 15, and asked the important question, 'Is Santa Smarter?'
The musical presentation, in which every class from kindergarten to grade six took part, asked an important question of the Jolly Man of the Season.
Santa, according to the story, found himself in need of some big bucks to help pay for the fuel consumed by his sleigh during the busiest night of the year.
Entering himself into a game show, very much like the internationally copied game show, 'Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?' Santa was on the hook to win the grand prize of $1 million, and ensure the world could enjoy another Christmas.
Held in the school gymnasium, the shows were held at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. that evening.
The 1 p.m. show proved to be extremely popular, with parents, family, friends, and the public packing the gym to the rafters for the humorous show.
The songs presented in the performance, while bearing familiar tunes, were re-written to help send a Christmas message.
The grade five class, as an example, presented a tune called, 'S-A-N-T-A,' sung to the melody of the Men At Work classic, 'Y-M-C-A.'
In the end, thanks to the determined assistance of the students, Santa manages to win the $1 million prize, saving Christmas, and ensuring the presents will arrive under trees all over the world for another year.
