Internationally renowned sculptor Lea Vivot looked over the future site of the Tommy Douglas statue that she created and donated to the City of Weyburn during a recent trip to Weyburn.

A special guest will be gracing Weyburn with his presence at the unveiling of the T.C. Douglas statue on September 10. Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland, grandson to the former Saskatchewan Premier, will be at the unveiling 小蓝视频 and preceding celebration at the Royal Canadian Legion.

Isabelle Butters, who has been working to get the statue and a representative from the Douglas family to Weyburn, is a personal friend of Shirley Douglas, daughter of T.C. Douglas and mother of Sutherland.

"I've been working to get (Shirley) here but she's not at all well," said Butters. "Then I asked, what about Rachel?"

Rachel is the daughter of Shirley and infamous actor Donald Sutherland. She is the twin sister of Kiefer. Rachel travelled to Weyburn over a decade ago to help present a grand piano, donated by the Douglas family, to the Tommy Douglas Centre.

Rachel was also unavailable due to her commitments as a director in Ontario. It was then determined by the Douglas family that Kiefer would be the one to come to the unveiling of his grandfather's statue.

The bronze statue of Douglas, which was designed and donated by internationally renowned sculptor Lea Vivot, will be unveiled on the Riverfront Boardwalk along the Third Street Bridge at 3 p.m. There will be a reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, which Vivot and Sutherland are also expected to attend.
