All over the world there are people less fortunate then ourselves, families and communities that have nothing, no food, no clean water, no clothing amongst many other things, but one local man is going to change that for one small community in Banamichi Sonora Mexico.
Kevin Tompson is going to drive his camper down to this small farming town of about 3,500 people and with him he is going to bring clothing and anything else people can donate to his cause to help out this community who is so desperately in need.
Kevin went down to Mexico with the Carlyle Pentecostal Church for one week, two years ago. When they were there they handed out food and clothing to the people, he says "It is a great feeling just to see the looks on their faces knowing that they could walk away with two grocery bags of clothing without having to pay for it. The group I went with, some of them even gave up their shoes. Ever since then God has been calling me back" He said after that first trip he went back to Mexico last year for 6 months and had the great opportunity to help put a roof on a church and help a Pastor and his family build a house in San Carlos Sonora Mexico. While he was there he also helped out with the children and teen clubs they had set up. Also crafts for the children and they played sports with the teenagers.
When Kevin returns to Mexico and goes to Banamichi on Nov. 9, he is going to be working with Pastor Ignacio Ortega Camacho and his wife Jetza, who have been in Mexico for six years reaching out to the people and helping in any way they can. He will be helping again with the camps they have sat up there for the children of the community, the crafts and sports camps. "My desire as a Christian is to reach out and show God's love to these people, show them that there are people out there who care, show them that if they have a need we are going to reach out and help in any way we can, we reach out through the church with prayer and friendship," said Tompson.
If you would like to help this wonderful cause you can bring any kind of donations to Ken King. Whether it be clothing, food, financial help, craft supplies, or toys. If you can spare anything at all it would be greatly appreciated. Remember it is for the people of that community, people who do not have the pleasure of having all the basic needs we have. These people live with next to nothing and we have the chance to change the course of life for these people with just a few small donations. So reach out. Life is precious and if we can put a smile on the faces of these people even for one fleeting moment, then I believe we will all be in the good graces of God.
