The #MercuryChristmas promotion offered by Estevan Mercury Publications proved to be a big hit in the community.
The promotion ran in late November and for most of December. The Mercury received thousands of entries for the promotion from our Facebook page and the Facebook pages of the participating businesses, with people using the #MercuryChristmas hashtag on social media to enter contests and to say they were at local businesses. 听
鈥淲e combined the reach of your local newspaper and supplemented it with social media,鈥� said sales manager Deanna Tarnes.
The Mercury has more than 5,000 followers on Facebook, so clearly it鈥檚 the place that people are turning for their news.
Clients who participated in the promotion also saw considerable growth in their social media page likes.
鈥淚t was just a nice, positive community thing to see everybody commenting about their favourite Christmas memories and Christmas traditions and things like that,鈥� said Tarnes. 听听
Thanks to the support for the promotion, the Mercury was able to donate $1,000 to the Envision Counselling and Support Centre.
Audrey Garrioch won the $1,000 grand prize, which can be spent at her choice of the 17 participating businesses.
The Mercury also had weekly prize draws worth at least $500 each, with gift cards and other items from the participating businesses.
The businesses who participated were: A&A Jewellery, Your Toy Store & More, Sholter Horsman Furniture and Appliances, The House of Stationery, the Estevan Shoppers鈥� Mall, the Tower Caf茅, Wood Country, Save the Stress Cleaning Services, The Floor Store, Fired Up Grill, Room by Room Furniture, Murray GM, KFC, Days Inn, Linda Mack with RE/MAX Blue Chip Realty, Simon鈥檚 Jewellery, Henders Drugs and 小蓝视频east Physiotherapy.
