The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce echoes recent comments by the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce (SCC) and applauds the Premier, Cabinet and the entire鈥⊿askatchewan government for their tireless efforts in dealing with what has been an unprecedented situation.

The Weyburn Chamber is working closely with the Saskatchewan Chamber, which has had ongoing communication with federal and provincial officials to ensure we get accurate information and details to our local business community as soon as they become available.

While there has been much work done already, more needs to be done collectively to ensure a strong level of business continuance.

鈥ㄢ淭he changes to the layoff notice policy will be a great benefit to both employees and employers. As well as offering some degree of certainty for business, this also allows everyone time to make plans for the future. Employees retain their jobs, it keeps them attached to the business, and allows them easier access to EI. We had asked the province for this change and we thank Minister Morgan for his leadership in getting it passed,鈥 said Steve McLellan, CEO of Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.

鈥淥ur Weyburn businesses have already experienced unprecedented challenges within the last week and the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce will continue to serve and support our members going forward,鈥 adds Twila Walkeden, executive director of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce.

鈥淐ollectively we will push past these times and will emerge on the other side stronger and more resilient,鈥 added Walkeden. 鈥
