The Estevan Chamber of Commerce has released the 2019 Estevan Business Excellence Awards (EBEX) nomination packages.

There are two new awards this year – safety in the workplace and diversity in the workplace. That brings the award total to 11, with other categories СƵ outstanding service, community involvements, growth and expansion, young entrepreneur of the year, new business venture, outstanding employee, business leader of the year, business of the year, and the Nick & Verna Morsky Business Hall of Fame.

Any non-governmental business, profit and non-profit or charitable organizations and individuals can be nominated for the EBEX Awards. And while the membership in the Estevan chamber is encouraged, it’s not mandatory to participate.

Nominations from all Estevan and area citizens as well as self-nominations are encouraged.

Businesses might be entered in more than one category, however, a business can’t win the same award for two consecutive years. Sponsors of awards might be nominated as well in any category, and it will be left up to them whether to proceed with participation or not. All organizations entered in any categories will be automatically nominated for the business of the year award.

Those willing to nominate a business or an individual are asked to include the financial statements for each nomination, which will be reviewed by the MNP judges to determine the financial stability of the nominated business.

The deadline to submit nominations is Sept. 1. After that, an independent panel of judges with out-of-Estevan MNP representatives on board will determine the eligibility of each nomination and then will decide who is to receive awards in each category. Finalists will hear from the chamber on Sept. 18 and will be announced the week of Sept. 23. And winners in each category will be announced and celebrated at the awards СƵ.

“The Estevan Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of highlighting the outstanding achievements in our business community,” says the chamber’s statement.

In order to publicly acknowledge the achievements of local businesses, the chamber will host its fifth biennial EBEX Awards Gala that will take place on Oct. 25 in the Wylie-Mitchell Hall.
