The Estevan area has been affected by power outages on Monday.
The first power failure struck Estevan, as well as Bienfait, Lampman, North Portal, Steelman and surrounding areas around 1:30 a.m. Monday. The power for a large portion of Estevan was restored before 4 a.m., but other areas were still without electricity.
SaskPower reported at 10:34 a.m. that power had been restored to all affected customers, but another outage occurred just after 11 a.m. Power was back on just after 12:30 p.m.听
Joel Cherry, a spokesperson with SaskPower, said the issue is with one of the transmission lines to the Boundary Dam Power Station. SaskPower has received reports of ice on the line causing a problem known as galloping.
The Crown corporation is working to re-energize and stabilize the line, but at the moment he doesn鈥檛 have an estimated time in which power will be restored.
