The second edition of the Tourism Estevan Culinary Month has wrapped up, and the winner has been announced.
Throughout the month, restaurants participated with a feature item, eggs benedict, putting their spin on the dish and making it available to the public.
鈥淲e were thrilled by the unique dishes brought to the table with this event,鈥 said Rebecca Westling, destination marketing and communication consultant. 鈥淭he dishes were delicious, had variety, and the response from the community was remarkable.
鈥淭he votes were close and spread evenly throughout all eight participants, but Michael鈥檚 Coffee Shop and Bakery Estevan earned the top spot for all three categories.鈥
Categories were presentation and appearance, originality and uniqueness, and overall taste.
Two hundred eighty-one votes were received, and the lucky winner of the $500 Shop Estevan gift card, Megan Vanstone of Estevan, was randomly drawn.
On hearing the results of the contest, Michael Ellis, owner of Michael鈥檚, said: 鈥淭his is fantastic news; we had fun creating this new dish and adding it to our menu; the feedback we鈥檝e had from the community is remarkable.鈥
The winners of each category won a $200 donation to a charity of their choice. Michael鈥檚 will be donating to the Estevan Public Youth Centre, Kenosse Lake Bible Camp and the Estevan Bible Camp.
鈥淎ll three organizations are dedicated to providing safe, healthy activity and community for the young people in the southeast,鈥 said Ellis.
