The winners have been announced for the YouthBiz entrepreneurship competition organized by Community Futures (CF) Sunrise.

A business-ready award was given to Hayley Copeland, Madison Hortness and Reese Madsen from Spruce Ridge School for their clothing line Idk Apparel.

鈥淭his is the 11th year for YouthBiz and over the years we鈥檝e seen almost 2,000 young people in southeast Saskatchewan discover the world of small business,鈥 said Verna O鈥橬eill of CF Sunrise. 鈥淵outhBiz allows students to develop entrepreneurial skills in a very practical way. By exploring a business idea that they are interested in, students are engaged in the business planning process, and they can more easily identify challenges and rewards of owning their own business.鈥

A total of $2,100 in prize money was awarded to students in southeast Saskatchewan for their efforts in creating their business ideas and developing business plans. Awards were handed out to the top three finishers in the Grade 6 to 8 and the Grade 9 to 12 divisions. Achievement awards were given to students whose entries displayed outstanding qualities worthy of special recognition.

This year, 233 students from 14 schools registered to compete in the youth entrepreneurship contest. YouthBiz is a program offered by CF Sunrise.

The YouthBiz winners and samples of their entry materials are featured on the CF Sunrise website.
