The Estevan Showcase Business Expo was back in its old home this year, and it seemed to pay off.
Showcase ran from Friday to Sunday at the Power Dodge Ice Centre (PDIC). It was the first time since 2010 that the expo was in the PDIC.聽
The event was held at Affinity Place from 2011 to 2016. But there were concerns about having Showcase at Affinity in recent years. Since it is held in September, a temporary floor was needed to cover the Affinity Place ice. Vendors and the public cited cold temperatures at ice level, and the condensation that appeared on the temporary floor as problematic. 聽
Jackie Wall, the executive director with the Estevan Chamber of Commerce, said the Showcase organizers - the chamber, the Rotary Club of Estevan and the Estevan Lions Club - have received positive feedback about the location change, and she said Showcase's move back to the PDIC is now permanent.
"I have a feeling Showcase will expand next year, because of the feedback I got from the vendors," said Wall.
Sixty-one booths were booked for Showcase this year. Two of them were outdoors.
Total attendance for Showcase this year was 1,744 people. There were 605 people on Friday, 902 on Saturday and 247 on Sunday.聽
Wednesday's edition of the Mercury will have more on Showcase.聽
