Sask. posts highest inflation rate for July

According to Statistics Canada, Saskatchewan鈥檚 annual inflation rate was the highest in Canada during the month of July. The recent report noted Saskatchewan鈥檚 price index was up 1.9 per cent since July 2014. The national average was 1.

According to Statistics Canada, Saskatchewan鈥檚 annual inflation rate was the highest in Canada during the month of July.聽

The recent report noted Saskatchewan鈥檚 price index was up 1.9 per cent since July 2014. The national average was 1.3 per cent and every province and territory, with the exception of Prince Edward Island, posted an increase.聽

The consumer price index measures changes in the price level of a market basket of household goods and services.聽

From a national perspective, an increase in the footwear and clothing index contributed to higher consumer prices, while the transportation index, which includes gasoline, recorded its ninth consecutive year-over-year decline.聽
