STARS Air Ambulance鈥檚 annual Rescue on the Prairie fundraiser has launched for this year, and once again this year, there鈥檚 a representative from the oil patch.

Dale Ziegler, president of Canadian Plains Energy, is taking up the torch (or perhaps the flare) for the oil patch this year.

The other participants include JoeAnne Hardy, president, WBM Technologies; Sarah Johnston, vice-president of sales and marketing, GMS; Tyler Crozier, owner/operator, Crozier Ag; and Garth MacDonald, president and CEO, G-Mac鈥檚 AgTeam Inc.

鈥淭hey asked me a few months ago,鈥 Ziegler said from the company鈥檚 new White City shop on June 15.

He noted the province got an extra reminder of the importance of STARS after the Humboldt Broncos bus crash a few months ago. 鈥淭hey help everybody,鈥 Ziegler said. 鈥淲hat the hell, I better do it.鈥

Ziegler calls Francis home, and he鈥檚 a local volunteer firefighter there. They have done training to assist STARS, and he noted STARS has come to the community many times.

鈥淭hey rely on the fundraising. That鈥檚 the only way they can stay in the air,鈥 Ziegler said.

Ron Carson, who was a participant in Rescue on the Prairie several years ago, coaxed Ziegler to take part. They have worked together for many years.

Ziegler鈥檚 current goal is $50,000, but he said, 鈥淭hat鈥檒l be the bare minimum. I hope to well exceed that.鈥

As of June 15, he had already raised $6,875. The Rescue on the Prairie takes place on Sept. 13.
