The theatre has greatly changed since 1927, but it kept its authentic atmosphere and great acoustics. Nowadays the Orpheum is a digital twin movie theatre with a classic 40s look.

The Orpheum Theatre in Estevan is one of 62 Canadian businesses selected for a $10,000 grant, as part of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce鈥檚 Canadian Business Resiliency Network鈥檚 Small Business Relief Fund. It is open to chamber members across the country.

The fund was established to help businesses recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and plan for their recovery.

鈥淭he Estevan Chamber recognizes that our business community has faced so many challenges over the past several months. We know that this $10,000 grant will never be enough to cover the loss that the Orpheum Theatre has experienced but hopefully it gave some relief and hope as they look to re-open,鈥 said Jackie Wall, the executive director of the Estevan Chamber.

The Orpheum Theatre has been a valued member of the Estevan Chamber of Commerce for many years and the Estevan chamber said it is proud that the local members are supported by the Canadian chamber.

The Orpheum is one of Estevan鈥檚 oldest businesses. It opened in 1914.
