Flowers are not only for special occasions, as sometimes they can be used to support a special cause. Florist shop Mom鈥檚 Florist in Assiniboia wanted to do its part for the owners of the Bengough Drugs after their tragic fire.
So, on January 26, they held a flower fundraiser with special $20 bouquets sold with proceeds going to Delee and Kevin Foley.
The Foley鈥檚 are planning to rebuild after a fire in October destroyed their century old pharmacy.
As an important business in the community, it offers pharmacy services as well as gifts and artisan items. Delee Foley noted that since December 8 the pharmacy has operated out of a temporary location across the street. 聽
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Bengough and many surrounding communities have been quick to offer assistance.
鈥淓verybody was supporting in every which way,鈥 said Foley. The Bengough community held a beef supper, the church did a bake sale, and quilters donated a quilt for a raffle. Support also came from pharmacies in Radville, Weyburn and in other communities that provided temporary pharmacy services. Foley was overwhelmed and grateful for all the support that they received after the fire. 鈥淚t was uplifting and beautiful.鈥
As for the future, the Foleys are planning to rebuild their pharmacy building on the same location starting this spring.
For now, residents can find her providing pharmacy and other services Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a lunch break from noon to 1 p.m. Foley also still hunts for new and unique items for her customers, just back from a Toronto Gift Show this past weekend.
