A member of the Estevan Mercury Publications sales team has earned a prestigious honour through Glacier Media Group, the company that owns the Mercury.
Candace Wheeler has been selected for Glacier鈥檚 President鈥檚 Club. She earned a trip to Mexico along with her husband Bert.听
鈥淚t鈥檚 really exciting because I really wanted to achieve it,鈥 said Candace. 鈥淚t was a goal of mine. It鈥檚 awesome. I鈥檓 pretty excited about it. I wanted to earn it on my own merit, and I did.鈥
The President鈥檚 Club is an employee recognition program of Glacier Media Group to identify and reward employees for their contributions to the organization.
Candace was selected for achieving the highest cumulative point rating in the Glacier鈥檚 Prairie Newspaper Group, which includes publications in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Points are allocated based on two criteria, with revenue growth percentage, including online and digital revenue compared with the past year. Yield growth percentage over the same period the year prior is also be a factor.
Candace said the relationship that she has built up with her business clients and other organizations she works with helped her earn the award.
鈥淚 care about them, and I want them to get the most bang for their buck, and really help them market their business and get more customers in the door,鈥 said Candace. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 my goal and my focus. I want to make sure I鈥檓 doing things that best suit them.鈥
The combination of print and digital helped her qualify for the President鈥檚 Club.
鈥淭hey work together,鈥 said Candace. 鈥淭hey definitely go hand-in-hand. We鈥檙e a small town community. Print is very strong here. The Mercury is so very important to people here. But you still have to keep up with the times and make sure you鈥檙e targeting your customers digitally.鈥
Candace said she is looking forward to spending some time relaxing in Mexico.
Estevan Mercury Publications publisher Richard Sadick said this recognition is a real honour for Candace, the Mercury and the Prairie Newspaper Group.
He noted that Candace has been employed as a sales representative at the Mercury since December 2011.
鈥淒uring her time with us, she has proven over and over again that she is one of the hardest working reps.,鈥 said Richard. 鈥淢y office is directly across the hall from Candace鈥檚 office, and I can鈥檛 help but hear her telephone presentations. I find myself smiling at how she sells.鈥
Richard noted that she has done particularly well at selling in digital, and has also increased revenues in Pipeline News, which is Saskatchewan鈥檚 monthly petroleum newspaper, and based out of the Mercury office.
鈥淲e are fortunate to have Candace on our team and I wouldn鈥檛 want to sell against her,鈥 said Richard.
