Long-time Estevan Realtor Dennis Moe may have passed away over a decade ago, but he has not been forgotten.

On March 24, the Saskatchewan Realtors Association (SRA) held its annual general meeting online and announced the posthumous induction of Moe into the SRA Builders Hall.聽

鈥淭he SRA Builders Hall includes only the highest level of excellence and contribution in the real estate industry.聽 The 2020 SRA Builders Hall inductee made an outstanding contribution to the development of organized real estate and the real estate industry in Saskatchewan,鈥 the organization said in a release.聽聽

Dennis Moe started his real estate career in 1991 and was immediately involved in association work, sitting on either the Estevan Real Estate Board or the board of directors of the Saskatchewan Real Estate Association (SREA) until his death in 2009.

During his time on the SREA Board, Moe chaired the executive committee, the finance committee and the government relations committee. He also chaired two organizational review task forces, a task force on the sale of provincial lands and another on commercial assessment.聽 While chairperson for all these committees he also served as a member of many other local and provincial committees and task forces.

Moe鈥檚 career in organized real estate was spotlighted with his work on the organizational review task forces. In 2000-01 he led an initial attempt to amalgamate local boards and associations into larger regional entities. However, it was not until the next organizational task force was created in 2006 that consolidation began in 2007 under his chairmanship.聽聽

This amalgamation created the 小蓝视频east Regional Council as part of the Association of Regina Realtors Inc. (ARR). Others soon took similar initiatives in having their local Board form their own regional council and eventually join the ARR. This was an extremely important step towards provincial amalgamation.

Moe served as inaugural chair of the 小蓝视频east Council until his death.聽 Since his passing, Moe has received the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Distinguished Realtor Award for Saskatchewan and was awarded Honorary Life Membership in the SREA.聽聽

The SREA noted, 鈥淎mazingly, Dennis accomplished all this while 小蓝视频 a broker and the top producing agent for the city of Estevan for nearly all the years he sold real estate.鈥澛犅

鈥淚 have some experience in organized real estate鈥 said Dale Ripplinger, past-president of the Canadian Real Estate Association. 鈥淚 also sat on several boards, committees and task forces with Dennis, and I can honestly say that in every instance Dennis was a deep thinker who appreciated and understood the broad implications of decisions and always acted in the best interest of the organizations he served.鈥

Moe was a big part of the community as well. He volunteered with numerous organizations and supported different causes. He was elected to Estevan city council in 2003, finishing first in the councillor race, and was re-elected in 2006. He remained on council until his passing.
