During these challenging times of quarantine and a struggling economy, many community members find ways to support each other, proving over and over how strong Estevan is. The Mercury continues to proudly share some of those stories.聽

DMS Services, a locally owned and operated IT company, has been lately providing computers to those who may really need them now.聽

Company president Graham Cennon said that the thought of elderly people currently stuck inside due to health measures and hardly having any contact with the outside world made him act right away.聽

鈥(I thought) if they don鈥檛 have computers out there, how do they see their relatives or see their family? You can't. So I figured it鈥檚 a really good opportunity to put some refurbished machines where they can do some good in our community,鈥 said Cennon.聽

They walked the talk and last week the company donated two desktop computers with new monitors to the Hill View Manor seniors鈥 home.聽

鈥淚 just called and asked them, 鈥楧o you guys have any computers there for people to use?鈥 And they were like, 鈥楴o, we don鈥檛 have anything.鈥 So it was kind of a no-brainer,鈥 said Cennon.聽

He also pointed out that Hill View Manor was the first facility suggested by a 鈥渃are homes in Estevan鈥 Google search, that鈥檚 why the first computers went that way. But the gift was definitely appreciated.聽

鈥淭hey seemed pretty happy. At first, they were a little confused. They were like, 鈥榃hy would you want to do that?鈥 And I was like, 鈥榃hy wouldn鈥檛 I want to do that?鈥 They (were wondering) what was the catch, but there was no catch. We just wanted to give them some computers, (because) we care," said Cennon.聽

The specialists downloaded some card games and others like minesweeper, and preinstalled programs that will allow the residents to make video calls.聽

Due to regulations, Cennon can鈥檛 get inside the building to run cables for Wi-Fi, so instead DMS will supply the residents with USB wireless adapters to plug into the computers and some web cameras as soon as they get those items in stock. This way residents will have an opportunity to connect with their kids and grandkids while staying safe.聽

Everything in these computers was set pretty straight forward, and Cennon already provided the instructions on using the machines over the phone, so he believes the residents shouldn鈥檛 have any problems operating them. And if they do have any questions, they always can reach out and DMS will do troubleshooting or assistance remotely also at no charge.聽

While restocking the store is a real challenge nowadays, with the supply chains 小蓝视频 steadily overloaded, DMS is trying to provide local senior living places with what they have. Cennon said that they were to provide another two computers to at least one more seniors鈥 building in Estevan.

鈥淲e just saw that opportunity, and I figured why not give back if we can,鈥 said Cennon.聽

While keeping really busy with many people now working or studying from home, DMS Service still found some time to pay it forward. They also did some computer donations to a few schools and to the Estevan Public Library earlier to support the community.聽

鈥淵ou have to give to the community where you live. That鈥檚 how it goes if you want to make it in a small town,鈥 said Cennon. 鈥淲e are all in this together.鈥
