Giselle鈥檚 ShowTyme Dance Studio, owned and operated by Giselle Wilson, celebrates its 10th anniversary in business.
This anniversary theme, 鈥淚t鈥檚 All About 鈥yme鈥, is featured in the studio鈥檚 year-end showcase, which will take place at the Prince of Wales auditorium on Saturday, May 27 with two shows at 2 and 7 p.m.
All the dances in this year鈥檚 uniquely staged program are based on different words describing time. The audience can also meet Miss Teenage 小蓝视频ern Saskatchewan Rachel Leduc, who will be volunteering at the show.
The Studio will also be holding its #HungerHero annual food drive showcase at the early show. Everyone attending is asked to bring a non-perishable and non-expired food item. The idea behind the food drive is to open her dancers鈥 minds to something as simple as food, says Wilson.
In Canada 850,000 people use the food banks and one-third of those are children.
When Wilson first began teaching with a few students, she was a travelling dance studio for seven years, driving to Bengough, Coronach, Mossbank Val Marie and Rockglen as well as Assiniboia. She was extremely busy, at one point running seven recitals in a week. 鈥淚 learned a lot,鈥 she speaks of the value of her travelling experience.
鈥淚t鈥檚 made me a better teacher and appreciate all types of backgrounds of people.鈥 As her Assiniboia group expanded, Wilson opened her studio in a building on First Avenue in Assiniboia 10 years ago, then moved to her present location on Dominion Road four years ago.
Wilson noted that she feels more grounded by having a studio in Assiniboia. The new facility has two dance spaces, changing facilities, a full kitchen, lunch room and office.
