Fine issued in connection with workplace accident

A man from Archerwill has been fined for an occupational health and safety violation that resulted in a serious injury to a worker. Kenneth Allgrove was fined $2,800 on April 16 for violating one count of occupational health and safety legislation.

Estevan Provincial Court found him guilty in February of contravening subsection 164(3) of the regulations, for 鈥溞±妒悠 an operator of a unit of powered mobile equipment, fail to ensure that a unit of powered mobile equipment shall not move or cause to be moved any load or part of the equipment when a worker may be endangered by that movement, resulting in the serious injury of a worker.鈥

He was ordered to pay a fine of $2,000 plus a surcharge of $800.

In September 2016, a worker was seriously injured in an accident near Estevan after a grader backed into a truck, which was then pushed over the worker.
